Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a component of traditional Chinese medicine that originated in China over 5000 years ago. It is based on the insertion of fine needles into specific points that are situated along 12 meridian systems on the body. These points affect the electromagnetic field in the body inducing intentional hormonal/circulatory/lymphatic/organ function/metabolic and psycho emotional energetic changes.

The Chinese view the human body as an energy system made up of life force, blood, essence and the spirit which encompasses the mental, spiritual side of a person.

Qi flows through out meridians or channels.  Even though we cannot see these channels with the naked eye, needles are inserted at different points (acupuncture points) along these channels producing effects on different organs & systems within the body. There are 12 main invisible channels in which energy flows through the body. Each point has one or more functions. Acupuncture points maybe supplemented, drained and needled with differing degrees of stimulation.

When the right points are stimulated, blockages are removed and energy flows once again.  Areas that were once starved of energy, are replenished.  Points that are stagnant, are released.

Acupuncture is used to treat a variety of disorders including headaches, digestive complaints, muscular pain and depression.
